Week 2

Games played Wednesday 3rd May
Roger Goodall was on for the maximum 18 when he clanged off two sixes with his first two throws for The New Club A against hosts The Swan B. However he floundered in the final leg with a two giving him a total of fourteen dolls. The Swan won the opening leg 27-22 but New Club stormed back in the next leg winning it 31-26. The final and deciding leg went to The Swan 22-19. Pip Goulding hit fifteen dolls (5-6-4) for The New Club.
Kevin Giles was in excellent form as he hit 5-5-5 to lead The Gladiators ‘A’ to a 3-0 home win over Garsington Sports A. They won the first leg 28-21 and then were set 28 in the next leg. The Glad’s were up to the task and hit 30 to take a 2-0 lead. They completed the whitewash in the final leg 25-24. Jason Weller chipped in with thirteen dolls (3,5,5) for The Glad’s.
The Swan A won the first two legs at The Black Prince 28-22, 29-26 but couldn’t make it a hat trick as they fell apart in the final leg and could only set 16 which The Black Prince passed with ease hitting 24.
The Three Pigeons got off to a great start at The Woodman winning the opening leg 28-21. Woodman levelled in the next leg 28-22 and won the final leg with a score of 23 when The Pigeons could only muster up a score of 12. Charlie Buckingham was top dog for The Woodman with fourteen dolls (4-5-5) ,as did Dave Townsend (5-5-4) for The Pigeons.

In Section 2 Pete Rampton with fourteen dolls (3-5-6) led the way for The Six Bells D Kidlington as they won all three legs at home to The Gladiators B 19-17, 21-18, 23-19. The Glad’s anchor man Chris Webb threw well and hit a bakers dozen 4-4-5.
Donnington Club A won the opening leg against Black Horse C on three sticks after it was tied 17-17. Black Horse responded well in the next leg winning it 25-17. In the deciding leg Black Horse set 20 but it was no where near enough as Donnington passed that with ease hitting 24 in reply and with it the leg and game.
It was very close in the game between The Crown & Six Bells E Kidlington. Six Bells set and won the opening leg by the odd doll 21-20 and then won the second leg by the odd doll after chasing a set of 17 hit 18. The final leg was tied 17-17 with The Crown winning it on three sticks.

In Section 3 Kevin Neal stared for The White House with a dozen dolls (5-4-3) as they came from behind to beat The Chequers A in the leg scores of 18-20, 21-16, 16-15.
Bria Reidy hit a steady 4-4-4 to help the Blackbird silence The Six Bells A Kidlington in a 2-1 home win. Six Bells raced into an early lead winning the first leg 20-14 ,but The Blackbird came back well to win the next two legs 20-11, 15-8.

Rose Hill club scored more dolls than their visitors The Black Swan (43-41) but still lost 2-1 in Section 4. Rose Hill set and won the opening leg 14-9 with The Black Swan levelling in the next leg 16-14. The final and deciding leg Black Swan set with 16 and it proved to be just enough as Rose Hill in reply fell one short with 15.
The George B was another team that scored more dolls than their opponents Green Road Club B (48-41) and still lost out. The George set 11 in the first leg and in reply Green Road clubs anchor man Simon Hopkins whipped off the three dolls needed to win the leg by the tightest of margins with 12. George easily won the next leg 22-14 and then set fifteen in the final leg. In reply Green Roads anchor man Hopkins again clanged off three dolls, this time tying the leg. Green Road went on to claim the leg and game on three sticks.
Mick Butler was in top form for The Masons Arms A (2-5-5) as they came away from The Swan C with maximum points in the leg scores of 15-13, 13-11, 18-16.

In Section 5 Bullnose Morris B just got the better of their hosts Cricketers A. After losing the opening leg 16-13 they responded well to win the next two legs 20-9, 16-15.

Three legs scores of thirteen was not unlucky for The Original Swan A as it was enough to win them the first two legs, the second on three sticks, 13-6, 13-13 but not quite enough in the last leg 13-14 in Section 6.

In Section 7 Black Horse A won their first leg 10-8 against Catherine Wheel A and then doubled their score in the next leg 20-9.They completed the whitewash in the last leg 13-11.

In Section 8 the first two legs between Seacourt Bridge B and The Gladiators C were tied 7-7 & 6-6 with both teams winning a leg each on three sticks. The Glad’s secured victory in the final leg 8-6.
