Week 17 Report

The Premier Section title race is gong down to the wire when leaders The White House crashed to a 3-0 defeat at The Swan ‘A’ and now lead by a solitary point with one game to go. The Swan produced their best performance of the year and started of by winning the opening leg 27-24. A set of 25 by the White House in the second leg was no trouble for the Swan as they hit 28 in reply to go two up. The Swan then finished of a great night by winning the final leg 33-20. Dan Reading (6-4-3) and Gary Bailey (4-4-5) led the way for the Swan with thirteen dolls. Roger Goodall’s 14 dolls (5-5-4) was all in vain for The White House.
The Gladiators A are now just one point behind the leaders after their 2-1 win at Red Lion B Cassington who despite this loss are crowned Section One champions. Gladiators set and won the first two legs 26-19, 32-24 before the Lion won the final leg 31-22. Kevin Giles (5-6-2) and Kevin Baker (6-4-3) top scored for The Glad’s.
The New Club prop up the table after they lost to local rivals Garsington Sports club 2-1. It started off well for The New Club when they easily won the opening leg 24-16. Garsington hit straight back in the next leg winning it by the smallest of margins 18-17 and then completed the turnaround in the final leg 23-16.
Only three dolls separated The George A & Red Lion A Kidlington as they fought out a very close exiting game. The first leg Lion set with 20 and in reply George only needed seven from their last three players, however a blob and a one left anchor man Kevin Stuart needing all six to win and he almost completed the task but fell one short with 5 to take it to three sticks, which The Lion won. The second leg Lion set again, this time with 21 and in reply Stuart was left 3 to win which he achieved to win the leg by the odd doll with 22. Final and deciding leg went to the George 19-17.
Rose Hill Club ‘B’ struggles continue as they lost their sixth game on the bounce, this time at North Leigh FC 2-1. Jeff Glenister led the way with a bakers dozen (5-4-4) in the leg scores of 22-24, 24-21, 30-22.

The race for The Section 2 title could not be any closer as Chequers B and Red Lion B Kidlington share top spot with 32 points apiece. Chequers B beat their A team 3-0, 24-17, 21-16, 15-15, last leg on three sticks.
Donnington Club ‘A’ outside title ambitions were extinguished when they dropped a leg at The Gladiators ‘B’ in a very close 2-1 win. Donnington won the first leg 21-16 but lost the next on three sticks after it was tied 18-18. The final and deciding leg also went to three sticks after it was tied 14-14, this time Donnington clinching the win.
The Blackbird stopped a five-game losing streak when they beat The Masons Arms A 3-0. Garry Rees led the way with 11 dolls (4-3-4) as they raced into a 2-0 lead, 17-14, 18-14 then completed the whitewash in the final leg on three sticks after it was tied 17-17.
Seacourt Bridge came away from The Queens Head with a fine 3-0 win, winning all three legs 20-9, 21-18, 20-15.Harry Tilling top scoring with a dozen dolls (4-4-4).

Donnington Club D are champions of Section 3 after they beat Cricketers 2-1. With other results going their way, two points was enough to secure the title. They won the first leg 24-15, lost the next 19-20 then secured the important point in the final leg 18-10.
Vikings Sports six game winning run has come to an end when they lost at home to Kidlington FC ‘B 2-1 despite scoring more dolls than them. Kidlington won the first leg 18-16 and the second on three sticks after it was tied 15-15. Vikings grabbed a point in the final leg 17-10.
The Tandem had a comfortable night at home to Bletchingdon Sports Club winning all three legs at a canter 16-12, 20-14, 23-13.Tandems Neil Clarkson threw well for his 13 dolls (4-4-5).
Yarnton British Legion still prop up the table despite beating Rose Hill Club A on their own patch. They won the opening leg on three sticks after it was tied 13-13, they then won the next 17-12 before Rose Hill secured a point in the final leg 17-14.

Masons Arms B were crowned Section 4 winners after they beat The Swan C 2-1. Bob Ellis led the way with 11 dolls (4-4-3). Masons won the first two legs 13-12, 20-15 with The Swan winning the final leg 18-14.
With Cricketers Cowley title ambitions up in smoke after a five-game losing streak, they got that winning feeling back with a 2-1 win at home to Six Bells B. winning the first two legs 17-14, 17-15 they couldn’t quite complete the maximum win in the last leg losing it 14-16.

George B had a fine 2-1 win at Kidlington FC ‘A. Two good scores of 19 was enough to give them a 2-0 lead as Kidlington replied with 15 & 11. A six from Daryl Connelly helped Kidlington win the final leg 16-12.
Littlemore Rugby Club hit their best score of the season when they beat Duke Of Monmouth 3-0, 20-11, 18-13, 15-9.

Phil Hounslow top scored with 11 dolls (3-4-4) for Section 5 champions Six Bells C in their 3-0 win at home to The Catherine Wheel. Good team throwing saw them hit their best score of the season with 63 dolls, leg scores being 23-11, 21-10, 19-12.
Headington Con club clanged off an impressive 25 dolls in their final leg when they beat Northway Club C 16-8, 17-8, 25-10. Steve Bennett starred with 10 dolls (3-3-4).
Golden Ball came back well to beat White Hart Wolvercote after losing the opening leg 11-9. They bounced back to win the next two legs 17-4, 10-10 on three sticks.

TOP DOLL SCORERS
Premier Section
Kevin Baker (Gladiators A) with 215 dolls will be crowned top doll scorer in the final game unless he dramatically blobs out and close rivals Roger Goodall & Rob Bradford (White House) both hit a maximum 18 dolls.

Section One
Mark Poulter (Red Lion B Cassington) with 187 dolls is 26 dolls clear and needs just 13 more to hit the 200 mark in his final game.

Section 2
Steve Walton (Donnington A) and Chris Webb (Chequers B) share top spot with 159 dolls.

Section 3
Brian Reidy is the clear winner with 147 dolls.

Section 4
Dough Mingham (Cricketers Cowley) lead by 9 dolls with 149 , with Joe Bandrowski (Masons Arms) waiting to pounce for any slip ups.

Section 5
Jack Lane (Northway Club C) has led all the way and is averaging 9.6 with 134 dolls
