Week 11 Report

There was some remarkable scoring this week and to make it even more significant they were all scored on the away alley, and it’s difficult to know where to start, so I guess we start from the top. In the Premier clash between The Swan A and Gladiators A Scott Thompson was in scintillating form with 16 dolls (4-6-6) and was backed up brilliantly by teammate Kevin Baker with 15 dolls (6-4-5). Gladiators set and won the opening leg 24-21. The Swan hit straight back to level in the second leg, setting and winning it 28-23. Gladiators decided to set in the final leg and banged in a score of 30 to The Swan’s 21 secure the leg and game.
Premier leaders The White House crashed to only their second defeat of the season at The George A 2-1. With a four-doll handicap The George set and won the first leg 30-21. White House set 24 in the next leg, and in reply anchor man Kevin Stuart was left with the task of needing four to win, which he duly obliged. White House grabbed a point in the final leg 26-21. Roger Goodall top scored with 13 dolls (4-4-5) for the leaders.
Red Lion B Cassington Mark Poulter outstanding form continues as he clanged off 15 dolls (6-4-5)for the second time this season and guide the Section 1 leaders to a 2-1 win at North Leigh FC. With the game nicely poised at 1-1 The Lion set and won the deciding leg 25-17.
New Club remain rooted at the foot of the Premier table after losing 2-1 at Rose Hill Club B. In a low scoring game where no player hit double figures Rose Hill raced into a 2-0 lead 22-18, 20-14 before New Club won the final leg 18-17.
Garsington Sports club just got the better over Red Lion A Kidlington in a close exciting game. The club men sneaked the opening leg by the smallest of margins 19-18 and then won the next leg more comfortably 22-14. Final leg was another close one with Garsington winning it by the odd doll 18-17.

SECTION 2
In Section 2 The Blackbirds Paul Edwards threw out of his skin and doubled his average score for a best ever score of 16 dolls (5-5-6), which was even more impressive as it was not on his own alley. However, despite all this The Blackbird lost 2-1 at The Queens Head 22-20, 18-14, 17-21.
Leaders Chequers B struggled to beat Seacourt Bridge who prop un the table 2-1. Only two dolls separated the teams over all as Chequers won the first leg 22-19. Seacourt levelled in the next leg 22-15 with the leaders securing victory in the third leg 18-12.
Title hopefuls Red Lion B Kidlington crashed at home to bottom placed Masons Arms A 2-1. It started off well for The Lion who won the opening leg 22-16. Masons set and won the next leg 19-16 and then set 20 in the final and deciding leg, which turned out to be enough as Lion fell agonising one doll short with 19. Jason Fox for the Lion was heading for the blobbers section when he failed to trouble the doll in his first two throws, then amazingly he clanged off all six in his final throw!
Chequers A title ambitions took another hit as they lost their second game on the bounce this time at home to Donnington A 3-0. The first leg was a tight matter with Donnington winning it 18-17. Second leg Chequers set with 18 and in reply Donnington left anchor man Steve Walton needing four to win, which proved to be no problem as he clanged off five dolls to win the leg. Donnington completed the whitewash in the final leg 17-10.

SECTION 3
Donnington Club D remain unbeaten and top Section 3 after their latest victory at The Tandem. They had to do it the hard way after losing the first leg 15-16. They regrouped well and won the next two legs 20-17, 15-10 .
Blecthington Sports are clinging on and hopeful for a slip up by the leaders but dropped a vital point at Kidlington FC. They won the first two legs 15-11, 13-12 but slipped up in the final leg losing it 14-15. Wayne Harwood top scored for Bletch with 11 dolls (3-3-5).

After a losing streak of six consecutive games Cowley Workers finally tasted success when they beat Masons Arms B 2-1 in the leg scores of 14-13, 20-13, 14-16. John Styles was top dog for the Workers with a dozen dolls 4-5-3.

Northway Club C five match winning run came to an abrupt halt at The Golden Ball as they crashed to a 3-0 defeat, however the game was much closer than the scoreline suggests. Golden Ball set the opening leg with 11 and it looked to be enough as Northway struggled in reply and left anchor man Jack Lane needing five to win. He gave it a good go and fell just one short with 4 to send it to a three sticker, which the Ball won. They went two up in the next leg 14-10 and then completed the maximum win in the final leg 12-11. Lane threw well for his 11 dolls (4-3-4).
