Week 10 Report

Mark Washington was in dazzling form as he clanged off 16 dolls (6-5-5) for the New Club in their 2-1 win at home to The Swan. The opening leg went to The Swan 26-24 with New Club levelling in the next leg 23-18. Swan set the final and deciding leg with 19 which proved to be no problem for The New Club as they banged in an impressive 27 to secure the win, however they still prop up the rest of the table.
The top of the table clash in the Premier Section between Gladiators A and White House lived up to its billing as White House sneaked a 2-1 win with some top throwing. The opening leg was tied 24-24 and in the three stick shootout Gladiators was once again showed why they are the kings of three sticks when they set an amazing 18, which was more than enough to give them an early lead. White House bounced straight back by smashing in a set of 30 to the Glad’s reply of 22 to level. Final and deciding leg Gladiators set 28 and it looked to be enough when in reply White House could only muster up 4 dolls between their first two players, however a remarkable turnaround, 25 dolls from their next 6 players saw them over he line by one doll with 29. Ten players hit double figures with Chris Jenkins (4-4-5) Kevin Baker (4-5-4) for the Glad’s and Roger Goodall (4-4-5) for the White House top scoring with 13 dolls.
After winning their first two games of the season North Leigh FC then went on a dreadful run losing their next 8 games on the bounce, however they put that right this week with a 3-0 win at Garsington Sports Club winning all three legs 23-18, 22-15, 21-18.
The George A closed the gap at the top of Section 1 to one point after they defeated leaders Red Lion B Cassington on their own patch. With the game nicely poised at 1-1 the final leg had to be decided on three sticks in The George’s favour after it was tied 21-21. Billy Trinder is back! Hitting his first score of double figures this season, he smashed off 14 dolls (5-6-3) for The George, while Nigel King for The Lion bagged himself a six.
Rose Hill Club B reduced Red Lion A Kidlington to a whimper when they came away with a 2-1 win in the leg scores of 15-12, 24-18, 15-22.

SECTION 2
Top the table clash in Section 2 between leaders Chequers B and Red Lion B saw the leaders claim a 3-0 win however the game was much closer than the score suggests. Lion set the first leg with 18 and a slow reply by the Chequers saw them needing 8 from their last two players and they were up to the task, with Ian Gillett hitting 4 and Chris Webb completing the mission with 5 to give them a total of 20. Chequers went two up in the next leg, setting and winning it 21-19. They then completed the whitewash in the final leg 21-17. Chris Webb (5-4-5 )for The Chequers and Pete Rampton for Red Lion (4-5-5) both were in top form with 14 dolls.
Chequers A title ambitions took a hit when they lost at home to Queens Head 2-1 which in turn boosted The Queens chances. The damage was done in the first two legs which Queens won 19-15, 19-17. Chequers recovered well to win the last leg 20-15 for an important point.

SECTION 3
Donnington Club D remain unbeaten in Section 3 after beating their closest rivals Kidlington FC 3-0. They raced into a 2-0 lead winning both legs 19-15, 22-19 but had to rely on a three sticker in the final leg after it was tied 17-17.
Blecthington Sports club climb up the table continues after they claimed all three points at home to Donnington Club B. Wayne Harwood who bagged himself a six in his 12-doll haul (4-6-2) led the way in the scores of 20-9, 21-18, 19-15.
The Tandems poor form continues as they lost their fifth game on the trot when they lost at home to Vikings Sports 2-1 despite Neal Clarkson’s thirteen dolls (5-4-4) which were in vain. Vikings set and won the first leg 17-15. Tandem levelled in the next leg by the smallest of margins 17-16. A set of 21 in the final leg by Vikings was enough to see them over the line. Mick Morbey top scored for Vikings with a dozen dolls (5-3-4).
Rose Hill Club A remain rooted at the foot of the table when they lost at home to Cricketers Littleworth 2-1, in the scores of 13-18, 17-14, 12-13.

SECTION 4
Cricketers Arms Cowley move two points clear at the top of Section 4 and are still unbeaten after their latest win at The Duke Of Monmouth 3-0. The opening leg Duke set with 17 and after a slow reply Cricketers were in danger of going one down, but the tail wagged and four dolls from anchor man Andy Lewis saw them over the line with 19. Cricketers set and won the next leg 16-11 and completed the whitewash in the final leg 19-16. Andy Lewis was in top form for the leaders with 13 dolls (4-4-5).
The George B are wating to pounce for any slip ups after they beat Cowley Workers 2-1 in the scores of 14-8, 14-16, 18-13.
Masons Arms B boosted their title chances with a 3-0 win at Kidlington FC ‘B’ for whom Chris Jilbert hit a dozen dolls (3-4-5) to guide Masons to take all three legs 14-11, 15-9, 14-8.
Littlemore Rugby club had mixed fortunes at home to Northway Club B. They lost the first leg 12-9. Then almost doubled that score in the next leg winning it 17-10. The final and deciding leg Northway set and won it by the finest of margins 11-10.
The Swan C dropped a leg against Six Bells B who prop up the table. A set of 14 was enough to give them the first leg but Bells hit 17 in the next leg to level. Third leg went to the Swan 15-12.

SECTION 5
Six Bells C may have one hand on the Section 5 title after they beat their closest rivals Headington Con club for the second time 2-1. A set of 13 saw the leaders sneak the opening leg by one doll. The Con club levelled in the next leg 18-16. Final and deciding leg Con club set 14, however Bells flew past that with 18 to secure their unbeaten record.
Northway Club C had a fine 3-0 win at home to Red Lion A Cassington winning all three legs at a canter 14-8, 22-13, 14-9.
White Hart and Original Swan fought out a close exciting battle. Swan won all three legs, but they were all very tight 8-7, 10-8, 9-7. Timmy Green for the Swan top scored with 7 dolls.
