Week 9 Report

REPORT WEEK 9
At the halfway stage of the season Mark Poulter from the Red Lion B Cassington was in sensational form as he clanged off 16 dolls (6-5-5) as they beat The Swan A 2-1. The opening leg Swan set with 23 and it seemed as that would be enough to take the leg when the Lion left anchor man Poulter needing five to win. However, Poulter was up to the task and whipped off all six to snatch the leg with 25. Lion set the second leg with 22 and this time it was the Swan’s anchor man Lee Thompson to come to the Swans rescue hitting the four dolls needed to nick the leg by the odd doll with 24. Lion took the final leg 24-20.
Gladiators A hit a massive 35 in their opening leg at home to Garsington Sports Club who replied with 23. The Glad’s went two up in the next leg 23-17. The final leg was tied 19-19 and in the three sticks shoot out Glad’s set another massive score hitting 18 (one less than they hit with six sticks!) to complete the whitewash. Scott Thompson for The Glad’s was top dog with 13 dolls (4-4-5).
Roger Goodall’s impressive form continues as he clanged off 15 dolls (5-6-4) for The White House in their 3-0 win at home to Rose Hill Club B 27-19, 25-23, 25-18.
The George A came away from The New Club with all three points, but it was much closer than the score suggests. George won the first leg 21-15 and then set 23 in the second leg. A slow reply from The New Club left anchor man Ady Shepherd needing all six to tie and he almost completed the task just falling one short with five. George completed the maximum win in the final leg 26-24.
After winning their opening two games North Leigh FC struggles continue as they lost their seventh consecutive game, this time at The Red Lion A Kidlington. It started of well for them winning the opening leg 26-20, but it was all downhill from there as the Lion roared back to win the next two legs 24-18, 23-19. Alan Surman for The Lion threw well for his thirteen dolls (5-4-4).
