Week 7 Report

PREMIER/SECTION ONE
There was some high scoring individual and team scores in the game between North Leigh FC and The White House (formerly Black Prince) in the 2-1 scoreline in White House’s favour. Nine players hit double figures and two legs scores of over 30 were recorded. White House set and won the opening leg 26-22 before North Leigh hit straight back to level in the next leg 31-23. White House secured victory in the final leg setting and winning with an impressive 32-27. Roger Goodall (4-4-5) and Jon Townsend (5-3-5) both hit a baker’s dozen for The White House while Charlie Buckinham was top dog for North Leigh with 13 (4-5-4).
Gladiators A had a fine away 3-0 win at Red Lion ‘A’ Kidlington who fell to their first 3-0 defeat of the season. Chasing all three legs The Glad’s threw well to win the first two 28-24, 29-24, however in the last leg they scampered over the line by the odd doll 21-20. Kevin Baker (4-5-4) & Andy Beal topped scored for The Glad’s, Beal bagged himself a six in his 13-doll haul (3-6-4).
Red Lion B Cassington remain top of Section 1 despite losing at home to The New Club 2-1 in a close game. The opening leg New club set with 20 and in reply Red Lion struggled and only had 10 on the board with five players already thrown, leaving 11 from their last three, and they were up to the task. Anchor man Mark Poulter hitting the winning doll for a total of 21. New Club levelled in the next leg by the smallest of margins 21-20, they then completed the turnaround in the final leg 26-19.
Garsington Sports club finally got to taste victory when they won their first game of the season after they beat Rose Hill Club B at home 2-1.They won the first leg on three sticks when it was tied 16-16. Rose Hill drew level in the second leg 19-14. Garsington won the final and deciding leg 24-17.

SECTION 2
Chequers B remain unbeaten and top Section 2 after they came away from The Blackbird with a 2-1 win. It was not a good start for the leaders when they lost the first leg 18-20, however they regrouped and won the next two legs easily 23-19, 24-17.
Red Lion B Kidlington move level top after their 2-1 win at Gladiators B. They edged the first leg 15-14 but a six from Glad’s Keith Tanner helped them level in the second leg 20-14. Lion roared in the final leg to win it at a canter 24-12. Steve Ducker top scored for the Lion with 13 dolls (5-2-6).
Seacourt Bridge remain rooted at the foot of the table and without a win when they crashed to a 3-0 loss at Chequers A for whom Stuart Bishop was in top form with 14 dolls (5-6-3). It was comfortable night for the Chequers taking all three legs 19-13, 16-11, 24-15.
Donnington Club ‘A’ got their title ambitions back on track when they stopped a run of three defeats to claim maximum points at home to Masons Arms A. Steve Walton led the way with 13 dolls (6-4-3) as they won all three legs 23-11, 19-13, 16-9.

SECTION 3
Kidlington Football Club B opened up a two point lead at the top when they beat The Tandem on their own patch 2-1. The first two legs were shared and in the final and deciding leg Kidlington set with 14. In response Tandem hit 9 at the halfway stage and needing only 5 to win and victory was within their grasp, however they let it slip disastrously hitting only 4 to fall one doll short with 13. Neil Clarkson for The Tandem was in excellent form when he bagged himself a six in his 13 doll haul (4-6-3).
Donnington Club D won their sixth game on the bounce when they beat Yarnton British Legion 2-1 in a close game. Legion took an early lead in the first leg 14-12, however that was to be their only success as Donnington won the next leg 14-13 and completed the turnaround in the final leg 15-11.
Bletchington Sports came away from Rose Hill Club A with all three points in the leg scores of 17-14, 19-17, 12-9.
Donnington Club B early title chances took a hit when they crashed to a 3-0 defeat at The Cricketers Littleworth 18-15, 19-16, 15-10.

SECTION 4
In Section 4 George B and The Swan C both hit the same number of dolls, but it was leaders The George who claimed the win in a hard-fought close game. George won the opener 15-13 with The Swan hitting back in the second leg 14-12. Final leg had to be decided on three sticks in George’s favour after it was tied 15-15.
Cricketers Arms Cowley unbeaten record remains by the skin of their teeth after a close fought encounter at home to Cowley Workers. They won the first leg 14-12 and had to rely on a three sticker in the second leg after it was tied 15-15. Workers grabbed a point in the final leg 15-14. Billy Geddes threw well for the Workers with 11 dolls (4-3-4).
Masons Arms B three match winning run came to an end when they lost at home 2-1 to Northway Club B.
Northway won the opener 13-12 with Masons levelling in the next 11-9. Final leg had to be decided on three sticks in Northway’s favour after it was tied 14-14.
Duke Of Monmouth raced into a 2-0 lead at home to Six Bells B winning the legs 18-8, 19-11, however the third leg was a lot closer, and The Duke had to rely on a three sticker after it was tied 15-15.
It was a case of the round ball against the oval ball between Kidlington Football Club A and Littlemore Rugby club and it was the round ball that came out on top. Kidlington had a dreadful start when they could only set 9 in the opening leg, the Rugby club passed that with ease hitting 15. Kidlington hit straight back in the next leg winning it 19-13 and completed the turnaround in the final leg 13-5.

SECTION 5
Only one doll separated the Golden Ball and Red Lion A Cassington all night in a close exciting long game where it was nearly closing time by the point they finished! Golden Ball set the opening leg with 9 which the Lion matched and then won the leg on three sticks. Ball then set 10 in the second leg and again Lion matched winning the leg on three sticks. For the third time Ball set and hit 11, this time in reply Lion fell one doll short with 10 giving the Golden Ball a well-earned point.
Headington Con club had a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Original Swan in the leg scores of 12-7, 16-11, 18-8. Chris Cox top scored with 10 dolls (4-4-2).
Northway Club C hit their best score of the night when they demolished The Catherine Wheel 3-0 at home. Leg scores being 15-6, 19-9, 16-9.
Leaders Six Bells C also had an easy night when they whitewashed White Hart 18-1, 14-2, 10-7.
