Week 6 Report

REPORT WEEK 6
Mark Revill was in superb form as he clanged off 14 dolls (5-4-5) for The Swan A at The Gladiators A however it didn’t stop them from falling to a 2-1 defeat. The Glad’s won the opening leg 20-18 with The Swan levelling in the next leg 25-22. Gladiators set and won the final leg 27-23. Top doll scorer Kevin Baker top scored for the Glad’s with 13 dolls (4-4-5).
The George ‘A’ started of well at Premier leaders The Black Prince when they won the first leg 24-19, however that was to be their only success as Prince hit back in the next two legs 25-21, 26-20.
Red Lion A Kidlington defeated Garsington Sports club 2-1, who are still rooted at the foot of the table and seeking their first win of the season. Lion won the first two legs 20-14, 20-18 before Garsington grabbed a point in the final leg 22-21.
Rose Hill club B came away from New Club with a 2-1 win in a close competitive game. Rose Hill set and won the first leg 24-22, New club levelled in the next leg 27-24. Final and deciding leg New Club set with 22, and in reply Rose Hill passed that with a player spare hitting 26 in total.
Section One pacesetters Red Lion B Cassington defeated North Leigh Fc 2-1 in a low scoring game where only one player hit double figures. Lion won the first two legs 21-18, 24-14. North Leigh won the final leg on three sticks after it was tied 22-22.

In Section 2 leaders Chequers B remain unbeaten when they demolished Seacourt Bridge 3-0 who are still seeking the taste of victory for the first time. Chequers won all three legs 24-19, 20-17, 19-13.
Red Lion B Kidlington move level with Chequers at the top when they came away from The Masons A with a maximum 3-0 win. The opening leg was tied 14-14 and in the three sticks shoot out Lion set a respectable 13 which was more than enough to secure the leg. Lion then roared on to complete the whitewash in the next two legs 17-12, 19-10.
The Blackbird had a disastrous opening leg at home to Queens Head when chasing a set of 16 they could only reply with a paltry 10. This seemed to spur them on though as they scrapped by in the second leg 21-20 and completed the turnaround in the third leg 19-17.
Donnington Club A good start to the season continues to fall apart. After winning the opening two games they now have lost the last three on the bounce, this time at home to The Chequers A. With the game nicely poised at 1-1 Chequers set and won the final and deciding leg 13-12.

In Section 3, Donnington Club D 100% start to the season continues when they had to come from behind to beat The Tandem 2-1 at home. A set of only 11 by Donnington was never going to be enough as Tandem raced past that with 18. Donnington set and won the second leg 17-12 and then completed the turnaround in the final leg 17-13. Chris Williams top scored for Donnington with 11 dolls (3-3-5).
Yarnton British Legion scored more dolls than their visitors Donnington Club B (38-36) but still manged to lose the game 2-1. Yarnton easily won the first leg 14-9 but lost the next by the odd doll 14-13. Final and deciding leg Donnington set and won 13-11.
Leaders Kidlington FC ‘B’ had an explosive start away at Bletchington sports club winning the first leg 22-15. Chasing a set of 13 in the second leg Kidlington scrapped by the smallest of margins with 14. Bletchington won the final leg 16-14 for a deserved point.
Vikings Sports three match winning streak ended abruptly when they crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Rose Hill Club A. Vikings set and lost all three legs 13-16, 10-12, 17-18.

Section 4 leaders The George B move one point clear from the chasing pack with a 2-1 win at home to Northway C in the leg scores of 13-8, 11-13, 21-16. Top scorer Jack Wells form Northway threw well for his 11 dolls (2-5-4).
Doug Mingham clanged off a dozen dolls (3-4-5) to make sure The Cricketers Arms remain unbeaten when they beat hosts Kidlington FC ‘A’ 2-1. They won the first tow legs 17-9, 12-10 but couldn’t complete the whitewash losing the last leg 14-16.
With a player short cost Cowley Workers in their game at home to Masons Arms ‘B’. They easily won the opening leg 15-9 but lost the next two by the odd doll 13-14, 11-12.
The two teams without a win all season, Littlemore Rugby club and Six Bells B clashed it was the Rugby club who tasted victory when they won 2-1. It was looking good for the Bells when they won the first leg 14-6, but they lost the next leg 6-10. Final and deciding leg Bells set with 8 and in reply the rugby club scrambled over the live with 9.
The Swan C were in top form as they trounced Duke Of Monmouth 3-0 . Paul Collins & Duncan Merry led the way with 10 dolls as they won all three legs 17-11, 18-13, 16-12.

Six Bells C march onto the Section 5 title continue as they are still throwing above their level with another 3-0 win, this time at home to Democrats Club 15-3, 22-2, 11-4. Six Bells have yet to drop a leg while Democrats are still seeking their first.
Original Swan are also unbeaten after they came away from Catherine Wheel with a 2-1 win. They won the first two legs 12-10, 13-9 but collapsed in the final leg when they could only set 8. Catherine Wheel had to thank anchor man Michael Ashburner who whipped off the three dolls to win the leg by the odd doll.
Red Lion A Cassington struggled in the opening leg at The White Hart, scrapping by 7-6. However they regrouped and won the next two legs 10-6, 8-4.
