Week 5 Report

REPORT WEEK 5
Mick Holton was in sensational form as he clanged off 14 dolls (5-5-4) for The New Club in their 2-1 win at The Gladiators ‘A’ in an extremely close exciting game. Only one doll separated the two teams over the three legs. The opening leg Gladiators could only muster up a set of 20, however that seemed to be enough until up stepped New clubs anchor man Mark Washington to whip off the four dolls needed to snatch the leg with 21. Second leg New club set and won 25-23. Final leg New club set with 24 and in reply Gladiators had to thank anchor man Kevin Baker to clang off the five dolls need to secure the leg. Baker ended up with a Baker’s dozen (4-4-5) as well as Mark Washington for the New Club (4-5-4).
Premier leaders Black Prince scrapped a 2-1 win at home to Red Lion A Kidlington in a low scoring game. Lion won the first leg 23-20 but that was to be their only success of the night as Black Prince won the next two legs 21-20, 25-22.
The George ‘A’ were made to fight hard in their 2-1 win at Rose Hill Club ‘B’. A dozen dolls from Kevin Stuart (2-4-6) showed the George the way after they lost the first leg 22-20 but hit straight back to take the next two legs 19-17, 26-20.
The Swan ‘A’ raced into a 2-0 lead at home to North Leigh FC when they won the first two legs 26-18, 24-20. North Leigh fought back well to win the final lag 28-21. Neil Pratley was top dog for North Leigh with 13 dolls (3-5-5).
Section 1 leaders Red Lion B Cassington beat Garsington Sports 2-1 who are still looking for their first win of the season. The first two legs were straightforward winning them both 17-10, 22-15 however Garsington threw well to grab a point in the final leg 22-17. It was struggle for all players as no one it double figures.

IN SECTION 2 only two dolls separated Masons A & Chequers B in all three legs in a tight close game. Chasing all three legs, Chequers won the first two 17-15, 19-17 with Masons winning the final leg 17-15.
Seacourt Bridge are still searching for their first win of the season after they lost to Gladiators B 2-1, however they only lost the final leg by the odd doll. Glad’s won the opener 15-12. Seacourt levelled in the second leg by the smallest of margins thanks to anchor man Mark Gunther, when chasing a set of 15, who whipped off the four dolls needed to give a team total of 16. Final leg Glad’s won 21-20. Darren Cox was in top form for The Glad’s with 13 dolls (3-5-5).
Queens Head rule the roost when they defeated Red Lion B Kidlington on their own patch. In a tight compact game Queens won the first two legs 15-14, 19-16. They couldn’t quite complete the whitewash when Lion roared back to win the final leg 17-16.
The Blackbird tasted defeat for the first time this season when they fell to a 2-1 defeat at The Chequers A who started off with a bang winning the opening leg 26-13. Blackbird levelled in the next leg 18-16. Chequers set and won the final and deciding leg 15-12.

SECTION 3
Rose Hill Club ‘A’ remain rooted at the foot of Section 3 without a victory after they lost 2-1 at The Tandem. The first two legs Tandem set and won them both with identical scores 15-13, 15-13. Rose Hill hit back in the final leg by the closest of margins 18-17.
Kidlington FC ‘B top the table with a straightforward 3-0 win at home to Cricketers Arms, 15-12, 16-10, 18-11. Henry Johnson led the way with 11 dolls (3-3-5).
Vikings came away from Donnington Club B with a 2-1 success in the leg scores of 18-11, 15-9, 11-13.
Yarnton B.L. had a good start at home to Bletchington Sports winning the first leg 13-11, however that was to be their only success as the Sportsmen hit back in the next two legs 16-12, 13-12.

SECTION 4
The Cricketers Cowley remain unbeaten in Section 4 after they batted away hosts Northway club B 2-1. With the game nicely poised at 1-1 Cricketers set and won the deciding leg 21-13.
Six Bells B were on course for their first win of the season when they won the opening leg at home to Masons B on three sticks after it was tied 14-14. Chasing a set of 15 in the second leg Bells fell just short by one doll with 14. Choosing to set in the final leg, Bells fell apart and could only hit 8 which the Masons flew by with 15 to win the leg and game.
Cowley Workers had a terrible start in their home game against The Swan C when they could only reply with a measly 9 to the Swan’s set of 17. Workers redeemed themselves in the second leg to level 13-12. However, another set of 17 by The Swan was too much for the workers who could only reply with 10.
It was top against bottom and leaders The George ‘B’ overpowered Littlemore Rugby club 3-0 who were a player short. An easy first leg win 14-6 led the way, but they had to fight all the way in the second leg winning it by the smallest of margins 13-12. George then excelled in the final leg to complete the whitewash 20-9. Ron Pleece hit double figures (4-3-3) for The George.

SECTION 5
In Section 5 Headington Con clubs Chris Cox was in terrific form as he bagged himself a six in his 13-doll haul (6-5-2) in their 3-0 win at Red Lion A Cassington. They tamed the Lion in the first two legs 21-13, 17-10 but had to rely on a three stick shoot out in the final leg after it was tied 13-13.The opening leg between Catherine Wheel and White Hart was a long affair as it was tied 11-11. Three sticks and one stick were also tied before Catherine Wheel won the leg back on six sticks. They then went on to secure maximum points in the next two legs 10-8, 17-2.
Democrats club are still seeking their first leg win after suffering their fifth consecutive 3-0 loss, this time to the hands of The Original Swan 14-6, 16-8, 9-5.
Six Bells ‘C’ continue their fine form winning for the fourth time without dropping a leg away at The Golden Ball. It was a routine win for the Bells winning all three legs 17-12, 14-8, 15-8. New to the game Ervin Yheleshi threw well for his 9 dolls (3-3-3) for the Golden Ball.
