Week 3 Report

REPORT WEEK 3
PREMIER/SECTION 1
It was raining sixes this week with eleven players hitting the maximum, top of the pile was Simon Jones who was in sensational form as he clanged off a double sixer in his 15-doll haul for The New Club away at Red Lion A Kidlington. Lion won the opening leg 21-17 before New Club hit back in style winning the next two legs 27-20, 29-21. Teammates Steve Brandon & Adrian Shepherd also chipped in with a six apiece.
The George won the first leg at home to North Leigh FC 28-14 and then set a formidable 28 in the next leg. A mixture of scores by North Leigh in reply left their last two players Adolfo Kerpanche and Mark Rollins needing 10 to win the leg and they almost pulled it off but fell one short with 9 to tie the leg, however North Leigh went on to win the leg on three sticks. Final and deciding leg George won 24-21. Ian Bowler (3-4-6) and Steve Bayliss (5-5-3) both top scored for The George with 13 dolls
Rose Hill pulled off a shock by beating Gladiators A at home 3-0. They won the opening leg by the smallest of margins 21-20, and then went two up in the next leg 25-23.They completed the whitewash in the final leg when chasing a set of 26 Rose Hill hit 29 in reply.
Lee Thompson with 14 dolls (5-5-4) guided The Swan to a maximum win at Garsington Sports club winning all three legs 27-19, 25-24, 28-14.
After going through all last season unbeaten at home Premier holders Black Prince crashed to a 3-0 loss at home to Red Lion B Cassington. With a four-doll handicap Red Lion took full advantage winning all three legs 23-20, 32-21, 27-25. Steve Rogers and Mark Poulter, both bagged themselves a six for The Lion.

SECTION 2
Steve Walton whipped off 14 dolls including a six (4-4-6) but it could not prevent Donnington Club A falling to a 2-1 home defeat against Chequers B who won the opening leg 22-15. Donnington set the second leg with 18 and looked on course to level the game when Chequers left anchor man Chris Webb needing all six to win, and he almost was up to the task just falling one doll short with a 5 to tie the leg. Chequers won the three sticks shoot out. Donnington won the final leg 17-15 for a well-deserved point. Webb bagged himself a six in his 13-doll haul.
Seacourt Bridge are still seeking their first win of the season after they lost at home to The Masons Arms A 2-1 in the leg scores of 11-16, 14-10, 14-16.
Red Lion ‘B’ Kidlington had a scrappy 3-0 win at The Chequers A 21-17, 18-16, 17-10.
Queens Head slayed the Gladiators B on their own patch in a comfortable 3-0 win, 17-14, 17-12, 14-10.

SECTION 3
Kidlington FC ‘B’ made it three wins out of three when they defeated visitors Yarnton British Legion 2-1. With the game nicely poised at 1-1 Kidlington set 13 in the final leg, a steady reply by the Legion hitting 8 with the top half of the team they seemed on course for victory, however the tail collapsed hitting only 3 between them to leave them two dolls short with 11.
Donnington Club D good start continues when they conquered Bletchingdon Sports Club 3-0 in the leg scores of 16-10, 11-7, 13-12.
Mick Morbey top scored with 10 dolls (3-3-4) for Vikings Sports when they came away from Cricketers Littleworth with a 2-1 win. Losing the first leg 15-17 Vikings stormed back to take the next two legs 16-14, 15-10.
The Tandem lost at home to Donnington Club B 3-0 however the game was much closer than the score suggests. Donnington won the first leg by the smallest of margins 14-13 and then won the next leg 13-11. They then completed the maximum win in the final leg, again by the odd doll 16-15.

SECTION 4
Andy Lewis was the hero for Cricketers Cowley in their 2-1 win at Masons Arms B. A set of 13 in the opening leg was no problem for the Cricketers as they batted that away with 20. Masons then set 16 in the second leg and in reply Cricketers crashed to a score of 8. Final leg Masons set 14 and this time Cricketers upped their game and left anchor man Andy Lewis needing five to win and he was up to the task clanging off the winning doll with his last stick to win the leg by the odd doll with 15.
Newly promoted Littlemore Rugby Club are finding it tough after they crashed to their third consecutive defeat, this time at the Swan C, however it was a close game. Opening leg Swan won by the smallest of margins 15-14, and then went two up 14-12 in the second leg. Swan completed to rout in the final leg 13-10.
Duke Of Monmouth are setting the pace with their third consecutive win without dropping a leg. They won all three legs at home to Northway Club B 12-11, 14-11, 16-13. Lee Worrall was top dog with 11 dolls (3-4-4).
Six Bells B poor start continues with another 3-0 loss, this time at home to The George B. The first leg had to be decided on three sticks after it was tied 15-15, George went on to win the next two legs 15-12, 18-15.Ron Pleece was in top form for the George with 10 dolls (3-3-4).
Cowley Workers stormed into a 2-0 lead at home to Kidlington FC easily taking the first two legs 15-12, 21-11 however a drop in form almost cost them the last leg when they scrapped through 7-6. John Styles for the Workers top scored with 11 dolls (5-4-2).

SECTION 5
Headington Con Club rule the roost with a routine 3-0 win over Democrats Club who were playing with a player short. Con club won all three legs 11-7, 9-6, 12-4.
Catherine Wheel scored more dolls than their hosts Red Lion A Cassington, but it was not enough to prevent them losing 2-1 in a close encounter. Chasing a set of 11 Red Lion sneaked past that by the odd doll with 12. Catherine Wheel levelled in the next leg 12-7. In the final and deciding leg Wheel set 11 and in return Lions anchor man Marcus Copelin whipped off the three dolls needed to level the leg. Catherine Wheel won the three sticks shoot out to give them victory.
