In the Premier Section The Black Prince remain the only unbeaten team in the league after they defeated The George ‘A’ 3-0 at home. Phil Austin starred for the Prince with thirteen dolls (5-3-5). George set all three legs and in the opening leg hit 24 which was not quite enough with the Prince hitting 27 in reply. George set 24 again and this time in reply Prince left anchor man Mick Phipps needing four to win, this proved to be no problem as he clanged off five dolls to give the Prince a 2-0 lead. The whitewash was completed in the final leg 25-21.
The Swan ‘A’ got off to the perfect start at home to Donnington Club ‘C’ setting and winning the first leg 26-18, however they collapsed in the second leg, only setting a paltry 15 dolls. Donnington had no problems passing that with 19 to level the game 1-1. Final and deciding leg Swan got their act back together and set 25 which was more than enough as Donnington could only hit 21 in reply.
It was a close contest between hosts New Club and North Leigh FC with only one doll separating the teams in two of the legs. The first leg New Club set and won 17-16. North Leigh hit back in dramatic fashion in the second leg setting and winning it 28-18. Charlie Buckingham was top dog for the football club with a baker’s dozen (3-5-5).
The two teams without a win so far ,Ampleforth Arms ‘A’ and Garsington Sports clashed and it was the later who came away with a 3-0 victory to condemn The Amp to one of only two teams in the league still seeking a victory.
