Report Week 2


Joe Bandrowski clanged off a sensational sixteen dolls (4-6-6) for The Masons Arms ‘B’ as they demolished The Pheasant Inn 3-0 in Section 5. For someone to hit a double sixer outside the top sections is a rare feat and Bandrowski’s dolls helped them take maximum points 16-11, 25-15, 24-14. Team mate Chris Jilbert chipped in with eleven dolls (2-5-4).
Vikings Sports ‘C’ scored one more doll than their opponents North Oxford Con Club ‘A’ but it was enough to give them victory. The Con club set the opening leg with 19, which anchor man Mick Richardson hit a maximum six. Vikings won the leg by one doll with their anchor man Martyn Boulton hitting the three dolls needed. Vikings then went two up in the next leg 20-15 before the Con Club grabbed a point in the final leg 20-15. Richardson ended up with thirteen dolls (6-4-3).

In the Premier Section The Three Pigeons Kevin Giles bagged himself a six in his sixteen dolls haul (5-5-6) as they beat Vikings Sports ‘B’ 2-1. They won the opening leg 28-25 but lost the next leg on three sticks after it was tied 27-27. The Pigeons claimed victory in the final leg 27-23.
Cricketers ‘B’ bounced back after their opening league defeat with a 3-0 win at Garsington Sports Club ‘A’. Pip Goulding (4-6-4) Kevin Baker (5-5-4) and Francis Hiller (6-4-3) led the way as The Cricketers totalled ninety dolls in the leg scores of 30-22, 32-30, 28-25. Trevor Greenaway starred for the Sportsmen with fourteen dolls (6-3-5).
Roger Goodall maintained his top form with fourteen dolls (5-5-4) but it could not prevent The Six Bells ‘C’ Kidlington going down 2-1 to The New Club ‘A’. The opening leg went to The New Club on three sticks after it was tied 27-27. Six Bells levelled in the next leg 30-25 with the final and deciding leg going to The New Club 25-24.

In Section 2 Paul Holt whipped off fifteen dolls including a six (5-4-6) and Robin Busby thirteen dolls (6-4-3) for The Black Prince ‘B’ but it could not stop The Woodman from coming away with a 2-1 win. Black Prince took an early lead 26-22 however Woodman replied well winning the next two legs 22-19, 24-18 for whom Pete King top scored with thirteen dolls (4-6-3).
Luke Purcell was in top form as he hit a brace of fives in his fourteen dolls (4-5-5) and helped Rose Hill Club ‘A’ to come from behind to claim victory at The Chequers ‘A’ 17-21, 22-17, 21-13.
James Bennett also hit fourteen dolls (4-5-5) but ended up on the losing side as Six Bells ‘A’ Quarry crashed at home to The Griffin 2-1, 20-25, 22-23, 21-20.

Neale Clarkson hit a rare six in his dozen dolls for Kennington Club ‘A’ but were unlucky to lose 3-0 at home to The Crown Chalgrove in Section 3. They lost the first leg by the odd doll 19-18 and only just lost the second on three sticks after it was drawn 18-18. Crown completed the rout in the final leg 21-18.

In Section 4 Cowley Con Club banged in a score of 30 in their 2-1 win at home to Tiddington Cricket Club.
Sam King led the way with fourteen dolls (5-5-4) in the leg scores of 18-15, 30-12, 14-23.

In Section 7 Red Lion Old Marston scored more dolls then their hosts Cricketers ‘A’ (37-34) but still lost out 2-1 in a very close game. Cricketers won the first two legs on three sticks after they were tied 12-12, 11-11. Red Lion winning the final leg 14-11.

In Section 9 Andrew Edwards clanged off a six in his tally of ten dolls but it did not prevent The Red Lion ‘A’ Cassington losing out 2-1 at The George ‘B’. They won the first leg 14-13 but lost the next two 11-8, 18-15.
Steve Morgan was top dog for North Oxford Con club ‘B’ with ten dolls (4-3-3) as they comfortably beat The Blackbird 3-0 in the leg scores of 13-7, 15-12, 11-9.

Finals night is on Friday October 18th and NOT the 25th as stated on the Fixture sheet
