Oxford Win Inter League Cup

The Oxford League beat Bampton 2-0 in the Inter League Cup to win it for the sixth consecutive year. Oxford had a comfortable 2-0 win over Bicester in the opening round. Chasing a set of 20 in the first leg Oxford passed it with ease. They then set 24 in the next leg, with Pip Goulding hitting a six, which proved too much for Bicester.
In the Semi-Final they met Kidlington who set the opening leg with 20. Oxford responded slowly but recovered well to take the leg by the odd doll. Kidlington won the next leg to level the match 23-20. Oxford then set in the deciding leg with 26. Kidlington never really got going and fell well short to put Oxford into the final.
Bampton just beat Banbury in their opening game 2-1. Bampton won the first leg 26-25 but Banbury levelled in the next leg 24-23. Banbury set 22 in the final leg but Bampton hit 23 to put them through to the semis against Yarnton.
Bampton won the first leg 22-21 but Yarnton stormed back to level in the second leg 29-12. The deciding leg Bampton won on three sticks 13-12 after they tied 20-20.

In the final Bampton opened the first leg with a set of 22. Oxfords anchor man Willy Waite only needed one doll to win the leg which he managed with his second stick. Oxford could only manage a set of 20 in the next leg and Bampton looked on course to win the leg when they left their anchor man three to win, but nerves kicked in and he only managed to knock off one doll to give Oxford victory.
