Elaine May became the first woman for many years to hit a maximum six as Gladiators ‘A’ beat The Dogwood 3-0 in Section 2. Elaine ended up with a dozen dolls 4-6-2 and outshone her team mate Martin Cook who smashed of 16 dolls 5-5-6. Gladiator’s won all three legs 22-20, 27-22, 23-18. Ray Townsend bagged himself 14 dolls 4-5-5 for The Dogwood.
Derek Adams and Simon Jones both hit a six in the same leg for The Cricketers Arms Little worth but they still lost out to The White Hart Wolvercote 3-0. Only one doll separated the teams in the first two legs, 19-18, 18-17 with White Hart claiming maximum points in the final leg 18-10.

Phil Austin (4-3-6) and Roger Goodall (4-4-5) both hit 13 for The Six Bells as they came from behind to beat The Three Pigeons 2-1 in The Premier Section. Three Pigeons won the opening leg 30-28 with Six Bells levelling in the second leg 27-21. Six Bells then set a massive 35 in the final leg which proved too much for The Pigeons as they responded with a respectful 28. Dave Townsend was top dog for The Pigeons with 15 dolls (6-4-5).
Steve Walton (5-5-5) & Kevin Giles (5-6-4) both threw a steady 15 dolls to guide The George ‘A’ to a comfortable 3-0 win at The New Club. Dave Crocker top scored for The New Club with 14 dolls (6-3-5) in the leg scores of 29-26, 28-21, 31-21.

In Section 3 Anchor man Kevin Stuart was in cracking form as he clanged off 14 dolls 4-4-6 for The Red Lion Marston in their 2-1 over The Woodman. Chasing a set of 19 Stuart hit the four dolls needed to win the leg by the odd doll, and in the second leg he also hit four dolls this time to tie the leg 22-22. Lion winning the leg on three sticks. Woodman won the final leg 22-19.
Jeff Glenister bagged himself 15 dolls (6-5-4) for The Cross Keys in their 2-1 win at The Gardiner Arms. Keys won the first two legs 23-15, 24-18 with Gardiner Arms winning the final leg 21-19.

Only one doll separated The Golden Ball & Kidlington Sports in Section 5 and it was just enough to give The Golden Ball victory 2-1. The first leg was tied 15-15, Golden Ball winning it on three sticks. The second leg Kidlington Sports set 14 and after a very slow reply from Golden Ball they left anchor man Ray Winfield six to tie. It proved to be just to much as he fell one doll short hitting a five. Final leg went to The Golden Ball 19-17. Winfield top scored with 13 dolls (3-5-5).

Red Lion Wolvercote put themselves back in with a chance of the Section 8 title after beating leaders The Gladiator’s ‘B’ 3-0. Shaun Bricknell led the way with 10 dolls as they took all three legs 16-14, 19-17, 20-15.

The Fairview ‘B’ title ambitions in Section 9 were dented as they lost a close contest at The Nelson 2-1. Nelson won the opening leg 10-9 and the second on three sticks after the leg was tied 15-15. Fairview grabbed a consolation point in the final leg 18-16.

In Section 10 anchor man Jim Cooper came to Rose Hill Club’s rescue as he hit the winning dolls in the first and last leg to give them a 2-1 at The Nut Tree. In the opening leg Nut Tree set 11, Cooper hit the two dolls needed to win the leg by the odd doll. Nut Tree levelled in the next leg 15-10, but the final leg was similar to the first leg with Nut Tree setting with 13 dolls, and once again Cooper whipped off the two dolls needed to take the leg by the odd doll again.

Eric Jones hit an impressive 11 dolls (4-4-3) for The Cricketers Arms ‘B’ Littleworth in Section 10 as they beat The Kings Arms ‘A’ 3-0. A good start in the opening leg saw them take it 17-10 and then went on to take maximum points winning the next two legs 11-10, 9-6.
