REPORT FROM GAMES PLAYED ON WEDNESDAY 10th JUNE

Lee Thompson was in tremendous form as he whipped off fourteen dolls (5-4-5) for The Red Lion ‘A’ Eynsham in their 3-0 win at home to The Woodman. After winning the first leg 22-18 Red Lion were chasing a set of 23 in the next leg. Anchor man Keith Powell was left needing four to win the leg which he achieved with his last stick. In the final leg Red Lion set a formidable 29 which the Woodman could only reply with 18.

Ronnie Wade was top dog with thirteen dolls (4-5-4).

Steve Bayliss hit a baker’s dozen (5-5-3) to guide Rose Hill Club ‘A’ to a 3-0 home win over Kennington Club and move them to the summit of Section 2. Steve Walton also hit thirteen dolls for Kennington, but it could not stop them losing all three legs 25-21, 23-17, 25-22.
The Bullnose Morris ‘A’ are in free fall, after winning their opening four games they have now lost three on the bounce as Vikings ‘B’ beat them 2-1 to move off the foot of the table. Bullnose won the opening leg 13-12 but that was to be their only success as Vikings came back well to win the next two legs 15-13, 19-16.
Tony Bull hit a baker’s dozen (5-4-4) for Florence Park ‘A’ but it was unlucky as they crashed at home 3-0 to The Ampleforth Arms ‘B’, 21-20, 16-14, 23-15.

Kevin Masterson hit a rare six for Vikings Sports ‘A’ in their clash at Chequers ‘C’ in Section 3 but it was not enough to prevent them going down 2-1 in the leg scores of 18-15, 22-21, 14-21. Team mate Pete Kennett top scored with a dozen dolls (4-5-3).

Section 4 leaders Six Bells ‘A’ Kidlington almost had their bells silenced at North Oxford Con Club. After winning the first leg 19-16, they were set 16 in the next leg. The Con Club gained a well deserved point in the final leg 15-14.
Jamie Smith clanged off ten dolls (3-4-3) as Donnington Club ‘A’ took all three legs at home to Brill Sports Club ‘A’ and move into second spot. They won the first two legs 22-12, 15-9 and the last leg on three sticks after it was tied 12-12.

In Section 5 New Club lost their unbeaten record and with it top spot as they lost away at The Red Lion ‘A’ Marston 2-1. It was a long night in the clash between Berkshire House ‘A’ and Florence Park ‘B’ in Section 7. The first two legs went to three sticks after they were tied 14-14 & 16-16 with both teams winning one leg apiece. The last leg and victory went to Florence Park 14-12.
The Blackbird move level top after a close fought victory away at The Democrats. They comfortably won the opening leg 17-12 and went two up in the next leg by the odd doll 14-13. Democrats grabbed a point in the final leg 14-13.

Northway Club ‘A’ still rule the roost in Section 7 after a 3-0 win at The Bullnose Morris ‘B’ however the score did not reflect how close the game was. The first leg Bullnose set 13, with Northway just beating it by one doll with 14. Northway then set the next leg with 16 which proved to be just enough as in their chase Bullnose fell one short with 15.
