REPORT FROM MATCHES PLAYED ON WEDNESDAY 29th MAY

Philip Adams was in sensational form as he clanged off sixteen dolls (4-6-6) for The Cricketers ‘B’ but it could not prevent them from losing 2-1 at The Vikings Sports Club ‘B’. Alan Davies bagged himself a six in his eleven doll haul for the Vikings as they ran out winners 14-20, 27-26, 34-27.
Kevin Giles also hit sixteen dolls (5-6-5) for The Three Pigeons but he also found himself on the losing side as they lost at home to The Red Lion ‘ B’ Eynsham in a close encounter. Red Lion set the opening leg with 27 however The Pigeons anchor man Neil Lyon whipped off the five dolls needed to tie the leg, but they lost it on a one stick shoot out. Red Lion then went two up in the next leg winning it by the odd doll 28-27. Red Lion completed a full house in the final leg 28-25.
Mick Berry was in fine form for The Red Lion ‘A’ Eynsham as he hit fifteen dolls (4-6-5) but completed a hat trick of high scorers ending up on the losing side as they crashed at home to The Gladiators ‘A’. The Glad’s won the first leg 27-22 with The Lion reversing the scores to take the next leg 27-22. The final and deciding leg went to The Gladiators 28-22.
Just to complete a dismal night for high scorers in the Premier Section Roger Goodall with fourteen (6-4-4) and Andy Beal with thirteen (3-6-4) could not prevent The Six Bells ‘C’ Kidlington falling to Garsington Sports ‘A’ 2-1. The first leg was tied 27-27 with The Sportsmen winning it on three sticks. They then won the next leg 29-28 before The Six Bells grabbed a point in the final leg 28-27. Barry Ruffles top scored for Garsington with thirteen dolls (4-5-4).

The losing trend continued in Section Two as Ray Townsend bagged himself a six in his fifteen doll haul (4-6-5) for The Black Prince ‘B’ but they lost out to Team Monarch who won 2-1 in the leg scores of 20-15, 20-21, 22-20.

It was not unlucky thirteen for Mark Poulter from The Red Lion ‘B’ Yarnton as they kept up their unbeaten run in Section 3 with a 3-0 win at The Three Horseshoes. They won all three legs 24-17, 18-17, 23-17.

Craig Greenough led the way for table toppers Original Swan ‘A’ with fourteen dolls (6-4-4) as they bowled away Tiddington Cricket Club, winning all three legs in Section 4. Team mate John Henigan chipped in with thirteen dolls (5-5-3) as they won all three legs 20-19, 21-19, 21-16.

In Section 5 North Oxford Con Club ‘A’ just got the better of Donnington Club ‘A’ in a tight game. They won the opening leg 12-11 and had to rely on a three stick shoot out in the next leg after it was tied 16-16. They then took maximum points in the final leg 14-13. Lee Worrall top scored for Donnington with eleven dolls (4-4-3).

In Section 6 Kidlington Sports Club ‘A’ pulled of a shock by inflicting the first defeat of leaders The George ‘A’. Clive Walsh with ten dolls (4-3-3) led the way as they won all three legs 17-15, 14-11, 11-9.

Cricketers Arms ‘B’ remain unbeaten in Section 6 after a mixed night at home to Marston British Legion. They won the opening leg 14-11, and in the next leg were only set 10. This should have been a formality, however they left anchor man Gareth Williams six to win, five to tie. He hit the latter which sent the leg into three sticks which the Cricketers won. They then banged in a set of 20 in the final leg which was too much for The Legion who replied with 10. Williams was top dog with a dozen dolls (4-5-3).

In Section 7 only one doll separated Prince Of Wales and Brill Sports Club ‘A’ and it was enough to give The POW a very close 2-1 win. Brill won the opening leg 17-16 with POW levelling in the next leg 8-7. The final and deciding leg POW won 16-15. Jon Vaile threw well for Brill with eleven dolls (4-3-4).

Dave Critchley clanged of a six in his ten dolls (3-6-1) as the White Hart beat The Original Swan ‘C’ away in Section 9. The game was over in the first two legs after The White Hart won them 12-8 & 18-12. Swan won the final leg 12-6.
The Kite hit their highest score of the season and it gave them a 3-0 win at home to The Blackbird. They comfortably won all three legs 12-7, 17-12, 17-13.

Oxford Rugby Club gained their first win of the season after they beat Headington Con Club ‘B’ 2-1 in Section 10. Leg scores being 9-6, 12-7, 8-9.
